ITAC initiates investigation into increase of duty on PET
The International Trade Administration Commission of South Africa ("ITAC") initiated an investigation into the increase of the rate of customs duty on polyethylene terephthalate (PET).
ITAC initiated the investigation on application from Safripol, a division of KAP Industrial (Pty) Ltd. The application alleges that imports of PET have flooded the SACU market at very low prices and this affected sales, market share and returns on investment.
Interested parties have until 24 May 2019 to submit comments on the application. For a copy of the initiation notice, kindly click here.
